Our story
Learn how East London Children's Hospice began and where we're headed
Founders
ELCCH was founded by Kareema Motala, an East London mum and parent-carer who trained as a barrister and passed the Bar in October 2025 (non-practising). Kareema’s lived reality is shaped by her son Jayden Crossfield, who has Lowe syndrome and a life-limiting condition.
ELCCH is also led by Paul Richards, former CEO of Richard House Children’s Hospice and a bereaved parent.
Together, Kareema and Paul are Directors of ELCCH. They are building a practical bridge for families — now — while long-term provision is rebuilt.

The care gap we're addressing in East London
We're working to address a critical care gap in East London where families struggle to access support. These figures illustrate the scale of the challenge we're addressing.
Children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions
North East London boroughs without a single care pathway
Families losing access to vital support
